AI Tools Usage Policy
Jurnal Inovasi Manajemen Bisnis (JIMB) recognizes that artificial intelligence (AI) and AI-assisted technologies may support certain aspects of research, writing, editing, data analysis, and scholarly communication. However, the use of such tools must be transparent, responsible, ethical, and subject to full human oversight.
| Human Responsibility
Authors remain fully responsible for submitted content
|
Transparency
Substantial AI use should be disclosed
|
No AI Authorship
AI tools cannot be listed as authors
|
Confidentiality
Manuscript data must be protected
|
A. GENERAL PRINCIPLES
AI tools may be used to support scholarly work, but they must not replace human academic judgment, critical analysis, ethical responsibility, or intellectual accountability. Authors remain responsible for every element of a manuscript submitted to JIMB.
- AI-assisted output must be reviewed and verified by the authors.
- Authors remain responsible for the accuracy, originality, integrity, and legality of submitted content.
- AI use must not misrepresent the authors' actual scholarly contribution.
- AI tools must not be used to circumvent publication ethics, peer review, or originality requirements.
- Relevant use of AI should be disclosed where it has materially contributed to the manuscript.
B. PERMITTED USES OF AI TOOLS
| Language and Writing Support
AI tools may assist with grammar, language refinement, clarity, translation, or stylistic editing, provided that authors carefully review the resulting text. |
Research Assistance
AI-assisted technologies may be used for appropriate research-support tasks such as organizing information, assisting with coding, summarizing author-provided materials, or supporting analysis, subject to verification. |
| Data Analysis Support
AI-assisted analytical tools may be used where appropriate, provided that the analytical procedures are scientifically valid, transparent, reproducible where relevant, and verified by the researchers. |
Technical Assistance
AI tools may support technical tasks such as formatting, code checking, data visualization preparation, or other non-authorial assistance when used responsibly. |
C. AI TOOLS CANNOT BE AUTHORS
Human Authorship Is Required
AI systems, generative AI tools, chatbots, language models, and other automated technologies cannot be listed as authors or co-authors. Authorship requires accountability, approval of the final manuscript, responsibility for research integrity, and the ability to respond to ethical and scholarly questions, which must remain with human authors.
D. DISCLOSURE OF AI USE
When AI or AI-assisted technologies have made a substantial contribution to manuscript preparation, analysis, interpretation, or presentation, authors should disclose their use transparently.
The disclosure should identify, where relevant, the tool used, the purpose for which it was used, and the extent of its contribution. Routine spelling or basic grammar correction does not normally require detailed disclosure.
“The authors used [name of AI tool] for [specific purpose]. All AI-assisted output was reviewed and verified by the authors, who remain fully responsible for the final content of the manuscript.”
E. VERIFICATION OF AI-GENERATED CONTENT
AI-generated or AI-assisted content may contain inaccuracies, biases, fabricated information, incomplete interpretations, or non-existent references. Authors must independently verify all such content before submission.
- References and DOIs must be checked against reliable original sources.
- Statistical values, calculations, and analytical outputs must be verified.
- Quotations must be checked against the original publication.
- Factual statements must be supported by appropriate evidence.
- AI-generated interpretations must be critically evaluated by the authors.
F. PROHIBITED USES OF AI
AI tools must not be used to:
- Fabricate, falsify, or manipulate research data;
- Create fictitious references, DOIs, quotations, or sources;
- Generate false research participants, interviews, observations, or survey responses;
- Conceal plagiarism or inappropriate text recycling;
- Misrepresent AI-generated material as independently produced scholarly findings;
- Produce misleading images, figures, tables, or data visualizations;
- Circumvent ethical review, research integrity requirements, or editorial policies.
G. REFERENCES AND CITATIONS
AI-generated citation information must never be accepted without verification. Authors are responsible for confirming that every cited source actually exists, accurately supports the associated claim, and contains correct bibliographic information.
H. AI-GENERATED IMAGES, FIGURES, AND VISUALS
AI-generated or AI-modified images, figures, illustrations, and visual materials must not misrepresent research findings or create misleading evidence. Where AI has materially contributed to the creation or modification of a scholarly visual, its use should be disclosed where appropriate. Authors remain responsible for ensuring accuracy, originality, copyright compliance, and research integrity.
I. CONFIDENTIALITY AND DATA PROTECTION
Protect Confidential and Sensitive Information
Authors must not upload confidential, sensitive, personally identifiable, proprietary, unpublished, or legally protected research data to external AI platforms unless they are authorized to do so and appropriate privacy and data protection requirements have been satisfied.
J. RESPONSIBILITIES OF AUTHORS
| Review
Authors must critically review all AI-assisted material. |
Verification
All facts, references, calculations, and claims must be checked. |
Accountability
Human authors remain fully accountable for the manuscript. |
K. USE OF AI BY REVIEWERS
Peer reviewers must protect the confidentiality of unpublished manuscripts. Reviewers should not upload manuscripts, manuscript sections, unpublished data, figures, or confidential review materials to external generative AI systems where confidentiality or data security cannot be assured.
The intellectual evaluation, criticism, recommendation, and final review report must remain the responsibility of the reviewer. AI tools must not replace independent scholarly judgment.
L. USE OF AI BY EDITORS
Editors must maintain the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and editorial communications. Confidential manuscript content should not be uploaded to external AI systems where privacy, confidentiality, or data handling cannot be adequately protected.
AI-assisted tools may support administrative or technical editorial tasks, but manuscript evaluation, reviewer selection, ethical assessment, and final editorial decisions must remain under human editorial responsibility.
M. EDITORIAL DECISION-MAKING
Artificial intelligence does not make final publication decisions for JIMB. Decisions regarding acceptance, revision, rejection, correction, or retraction remain the responsibility of human editors, taking into account peer-review reports, academic quality, journal policies, ethical considerations, and the integrity of the scholarly record.
N. UNDISCLOSED OR INAPPROPRIATE AI USE
If the Editorial Team identifies potentially inappropriate, misleading, unethical, or undisclosed use of AI, the journal may request clarification, disclosure, correction, or revision from the authors.
Serious violations involving fabricated data, fictitious references, manipulated content, plagiarism, confidentiality breaches, or other research misconduct may result in rejection or post-publication action in accordance with JIMB's Publication Ethics and Retraction, Correction and Withdrawal Policy.
O. RESPONSIBLE AI USAGE WORKFLOW
| 01 Use AI Responsibly |
02 Human Review |
03 Verify Content |
04 Disclose When Relevant |
05 Human Accountability |
The use of AI tools does not reduce or transfer the scholarly responsibility of authors, reviewers, or editors. Human judgment, verification, transparency, and accountability remain essential throughout the research and publication process.
Innovation with Integrity and Human Accountability
Jurnal Inovasi Manajemen Bisnis supports the responsible use of artificial intelligence where it contributes to scholarly work without compromising originality, accuracy, confidentiality, research ethics, transparency, intellectual responsibility, or the integrity of the academic publication process.
