Peer Review Process

Journal of Business Management Innovation is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and academic rigor. To ensure the integrity, novelty, and impact of all published work, every submission undergoes a stringent editorial process centered on a double-blind peer review system. The following sections detail the step-by-step journey of a manuscript from submission to publication.

1. Initial Screening & Plagiarism Check

Upon submission, each manuscript undergoes an initial screening by the Editorial Team to assess its suitability. This includes:

  • Scope and Focus: A check for alignment with the journal's aims, scope, and editorial priorities.

  • Technical Compliance: Adherence to the journal's author guidelines, including formatting, citation style, and required sections.

  • Originality Check: Screening for plagiarism and redundant publication using iThenticate or similar software. Manuscripts with significant overlap or that fail to meet the basic criteria will be desk-rejected without proceeding to further review.

2. Double-Blind Peer Review

Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are subjected to a rigorous double-blind peer review process. This means that the identities of both the authors and the reviewers are kept confidential from each other to ensure objectivity, impartiality, and a fair evaluation.

The Editor-in-Chief or Managing Editor assigns the manuscript to at least two (2) independent reviewers. These reviewers are selected from a panel of national and international experts in the specific field of business and management innovation relevant to the submission (e.g., strategic management, entrepreneurship, digital transformation, organizational behavior, marketing innovation).

3. Reviewer Evaluation

Reviewers are asked to evaluate the manuscript based on the following core criteria:

  • Originality and Contribution: Does the paper present novel insights, theories, or empirical findings? Does it make a significant contribution to the field of business and management innovation?

  • Methodological Rigor: Is the research design (qualitative, quantitative, or mixed-methods) sound, appropriate, and well-executed? Is the data analysis robust and valid?

  • Theoretical Grounding and Literature Review: Is the research grounded in relevant theory? Is the literature review comprehensive and up-to-date?

  • Clarity and Coherence of Argument: Is the paper well-structured, clearly written, and logically argued? Are the research questions, findings, and conclusions clearly presented?

  • Practical Implications: Does the research offer valuable implications for practitioners, managers, or policymakers in the field of business?

  • References: Are the citations relevant, accurate, and properly formatted?

Reviewers provide a detailed report and recommend one of the following decisions:

  • Accept without Revision

  • Minor Revisions Required

  • Major Revisions Required

  • Reject

4. Editorial Decision

The Editor-in-Chief considers the reviewers' reports, along with the manuscript's overall fit for the journal, to make a final decision. This decision, along with the anonymized reviewers' comments, is communicated to the corresponding author by the Managing Editor.

5. Revision Process

  • For manuscripts requiring revisions, authors are expected to submit a revised version within a specified timeframe.

  • The resubmission must include a separate document providing a point-by-point response to all reviewers' comments, explaining how each concern and suggestion has been addressed.

  • The revised manuscript and the response letter are typically sent back to the original reviewers for re-evaluation.

  • This iterative process may continue until the reviewers and editors are satisfied with the manuscript. A manuscript may require multiple rounds of revision.

6. Final Acceptance and Publication

Once a manuscript is finally accepted, it is forwarded to the production team for:

  • Copyediting for language consistency and grammatical accuracy.

  • Typesetting into the journal's final format.

  • Proofreading of the gallery proofs.

The corresponding author is required to approve the final proofs before the article is officially published online.

Timeline

We strive to complete the entire peer review process within 90 days of submission. However, the timeline can be influenced by the complexity of the revisions, the responsiveness of the authors, and the availability of expert reviewers.

Language Policy

As a multilingual journal, we accept submissions in both Bahasa Indonesia and English. Authors are strongly encouraged to ensure their manuscript is written in clear, coherent, and academic language. Manuscripts may be desk-rejected at the initial screening stage if the language quality is insufficient for a proper peer review. Authors are welcome to seek professional proofreading services before submission.
