Retraction, Correction and Withdrawal Policy
Jurnal Inovasi Manajemen Publik (JIMP) is committed to maintaining the accuracy, integrity, transparency, and reliability of the scholarly record. When errors, misconduct, or other significant concerns are identified in submitted or published manuscripts, the journal may take appropriate editorial action through correction, retraction, or withdrawal.
| Correction
Used when a published article contains errors that do not invalidate the main findings. |
Retraction
Used when serious problems make the findings or publication record unreliable. |
Withdrawal
Used primarily for manuscripts that have not yet been formally published. |
A. GENERAL PRINCIPLES
The Editorial Team evaluates concerns relating to submitted or published articles carefully and objectively. Editorial action will depend on the nature, seriousness, and effect of the identified problem on the reliability and integrity of the scholarly record.
- All allegations or concerns will be assessed fairly;
- Relevant authors may be contacted for clarification;
- Supporting evidence may be requested where necessary;
- Editorial decisions will be based on available evidence;
- Published records will be corrected transparently when required.
B. CORRECTION POLICY
A correction may be issued when an article contains an error or omission that affects part of the publication but does not invalidate the overall findings, conclusions, or scholarly contribution of the article.
Examples of circumstances that may require correction include:- Errors in author names or affiliations;
- Minor errors in data, figures, tables, or calculations;
- Incorrect or incomplete information that requires clarification;
- Errors in references or acknowledgments;
- Production or typesetting errors introduced during publication;
- Other errors that do not invalidate the central findings of the article.
Correction Notice
When a correction is necessary, the journal may publish a correction notice describing the nature of the error and the correction made. The notice should remain linked to the original article so that readers can clearly identify changes to the published scholarly record.
C. RETRACTION POLICY
An article may be considered for retraction when there is clear evidence that its findings, publication process, or scholarly integrity are seriously compromised.
Circumstances that may result in retraction include:- Evidence that the findings are unreliable because of major errors, fabrication, falsification, or inappropriate data manipulation;
- Serious plagiarism or substantial unattributed reproduction of previously published material;
- Duplicate or redundant publication without appropriate disclosure;
- Unauthorized use of copyrighted material;
- Serious authorship or ethical violations affecting the integrity of the publication;
- Research conducted in violation of applicable ethical requirements;
- Other serious misconduct that undermines confidence in the article.
D. RETRACTION NOTICE
When an article is retracted, JIMP will seek to preserve a transparent scholarly record. A retraction notice should clearly identify the affected article and explain the reason for the retraction.
- The retraction notice should be clearly identified;
- The original article should remain identifiable as retracted;
- The notice should be linked to the original article;
- The reason for retraction should be stated transparently;
- The party initiating the retraction should be identified where appropriate.
Retraction normally does not mean that the entire publication record is silently deleted. The journal should maintain an identifiable record of the retracted article and clearly mark its retracted status in order to preserve transparency and the integrity of scholarly communication.
E. WITHDRAWAL POLICY
Withdrawal generally applies to manuscripts that have been submitted to JIMP but have not yet been formally published. Authors who wish to withdraw a manuscript must submit a clear request to the Editorial Team.
A withdrawal request should include:- Manuscript title;
- Manuscript identification number, if available;
- Name of the corresponding author;
- Reason for requesting withdrawal;
- Confirmation from the authors where required.
F. WITHDRAWAL DURING THE EDITORIAL PROCESS
| Before Review
Authors may request withdrawal by contacting the Editorial Team. |
During Review
Authors should provide a reasonable explanation because editorial and reviewer resources may already have been used. |
After Acceptance
Requests will be evaluated carefully because the manuscript may already be undergoing publication preparation. |
G. PUBLISHED ARTICLES
Once an article has been formally published, a request to remove it will not normally be treated as an ordinary manuscript withdrawal. Concerns regarding a published article will instead be evaluated under the journal's correction or retraction procedures, depending on the nature and seriousness of the issue.
H. EDITORIAL INVESTIGATION
When a concern requiring further examination is reported, the Editorial Team may conduct an editorial investigation. Authors may be asked to provide explanations, data, documents, or other information necessary to evaluate the issue.
Where appropriate, the journal may consult reviewers, Editorial Board members, institutional representatives, or other relevant parties before determining the appropriate editorial action.
I. EDITORIAL DECISION
The final decision regarding correction, retraction, or withdrawal is made by the responsible editor or Editor in Chief after consideration of the available evidence and the need to protect the integrity of the scholarly record.
